The Case for Slow Innovation in a Fast Tech World

Innovation has become a race — but it shouldn’t be. In the frenzy to build fast, pivot faster, and disrupt everything, we’re seeing more burnout, shallow products, and ethical missteps.

As an innovation advisor to early-stage startups, I advocate for slow innovation:

Slow doesn’t mean stagnant. It means deliberate, sustainable, and human-centered. The best ideas often need time to marinate. Rushing them out the door may get short-term hype — but long-term regret. Let’s not just build fast. Let’s build right.

  • Preach! We rushed a product launch last year and are still fixing the fallout. Slow is strategic.
